Artifact #1: Fun and Frustration in the Foyer

Artifact #1: Fun and Frustration in the Foyer

Like the early challenges of spinning tunnels and shaky floors in a funhouse, ETEC 511 threw me around. It was a struggle to get my bearings and balance as I faced the constant cognitive challenges the unfamiliar domain of technology presented. I was in no way a 'techie' or a technologist, but I always enjoy a good puzzle or adventure, whatever form it may come in.

This was my funhouse foyer. I had no intention of turning back for the intensity that lay ahead. To experience the exhilaration and fear-induced adrenaline ahead, I needed first to initiate myself with this foundational entryway, The History of Educational Technology. Here, I tumbled through a barrel of readings that gave me a much better sense of educational technology's framework, its potential for decor, decorating, and functionality and how that has and will affect its inhabitants and visitors. I uprighted myself through an evaluatation of my own philosophy of educational technology to ensure I knew my own foundational pinnings before setting into the rest of the house. This project also saw me build my first course-based ePortfolio, working within a content management system - in this case Wordpress - and all that entails, helping me to develop a sense of how and why I might design my own funhouse in time.
